I swear, some days it seems I delete more email from my inbox without ever reading it than the ones I do end up reading…

I played hooky from work today to have a mental reset day. I take days like these every once in a while to do absolutely nothing productive and nap off and on. It was exactly what I needed.

I love early mornings when it’s quiet and there is a chill in the air. It’s mornings like these I wish I could make time stand still for just one extra hour.

My wife just purchased tickets for really good seats to see Aerosmith at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of this month. It’s a bucket list show for her, so I said go for it. It was not cheap…

I’m working on OutPost’s iOS layout to make better use of screen real estate. I’m liking where it ended up. Hopefully a new TestFlight with this and some other fixes by this weekend.

Huzzah! I’ve submitted OutPost for iOS to the App Store gods for review. Let’s all sacrifice an old iPhone 4 or iPod Shuffle to appease them. 🤞 Now we wait.

I’m giving the official Mastodon client a try for a few days. Then I might try Phanpy for a while. After that, I’ll try Mastoot. I’m looking for a decent free client before my Ivory and Mona subscriptions run out in December.

After registering the jimmitchell.social domain name, expecting to use it for a Mastodon instance of my own, I’m suddenly procrastinating making a move. I’m not 100% sure it’s something I want to do. The first year for the domain is about $4, but renewal is going to be over $40. Is it worth it? I’m not thinking so.

I just registered the jimmitchell.social domain name again, because, well, I’m nuts that way and will probably end up using it for a Mastodon instance…again.

Here’s a check in the AI column… When asked last minute to provide an Excel spreadsheet of a complex Salesforce schema with over 500 objects and more than 8,000 fields, including the likelihood of which fields were PII related, Claude knocked it out in a matter of five minutes. To write the Python myself might have taken a day or two. Doing the task manually would have taken a month or more. To all the AI nay-sayers, every tool has its purpose.

My visit to the dentist yesterday afternoon netted me a possible need for a root canal and new crown on a molar that’s been problematic for years. Exactly the news I wanted to hear this week… 🙄

Okay, so I’ve been away from the Micro.blog timeline for a minute. What are some of the great things I’ve missed in the last, oh, six months? 🤣

I’m not going to lie… While they’re cute as all heck, life with two new juvenile puppies has been a little crazy and disrupting to my sleep the last few days. I’m grateful for a long weekend and a Friday afternoon that is hopefully quiet.

This is a test post to Micro.blog from my new macOS Micropub editor, OutPost. It should also federate out to Mastodon.

My poor kid… He got a new iPhone 17 last weekend and the darned thing went into recovery mode this morning. I’m at work and can’t help him. I’ve only seen him this upset a time or two. His entire social life is on his phone. Hopefully the Genius Bar visit my wife booked can resolve it.

Maybe I’m too much of a skeptic now, but when your half-sibling who you haven’t spoken to in 10+ years suddenly makes an effort to track you down on the internet and send a contact form message to “talk to you” about something they’d “like to do,” it can only mean one thing… They want money. 🤣

I went for my lunchtime two-mile walk today without listening to music, audiobook or podcast, opting instead for the natural sound of everything going on around me. Oddly enough, I found it to be far more invigorating than doing otherwise, even with all the car traffic.

I took a little time this morning to finish up removing old posts from Micro.blog that moved to the new server and then added redirects as necessary. I’ll continue to use MB for the quick ephemeral thoughts and occasional photo post going forward.

I’ve been away from the Micro.blog timeline for a minute… Thanks to Mark Twomey (@Storagezilla) for alerting me to mnml’s incompatibility with Hugo 0.158 and an opengraph image generation issue. I’ve addressed both and released an update to 2.8.5 2.8.6. You should see an update available soon.

🎉 Woohoo! We have officially planned and booked all of our spring & summer RV trips. It feels good to finally have something on calendar again since we weren’t able to do any trips last year due to my heart surgery and recovery. I think we may need to do a few in September, October and November too.

After reading Terry Godier’s post about his new app, Current, it piqued my interest enough to part with the $10 for a multi-device app just to see what it can do. I like the premise a lot, and think it speaks to my own nuking of nearly all feeds I was following in NetNewsWire the other day.

I made some really, really good progress on my new Mac app today. I’m super happy with how it turned out and where it’s headed. The domain name for it was available too (miracle of miracles), so I grabbed it. Yes, I’m being a little vague right now. When it’s ready for testers, I’ll put out a call.
